Data and methods
The register of every series behind the figures on this site, and the standard each one is held to before it is published.
What a series must carry to be published here
A number reaches this site only with the twelve facts below attached. If one of them is unknown, the number is not published.
Provenance is not a footnote on this site; it is the condition of publication. Each series carries the name and URL of the body that published it, the method by which the figure is compiled, the unit and (where the unit is monetary) the currency, the timezone the observation is stamped in, the cadence at which new observations arrive, the moment of the last refresh, the coverage the figure claims, the exclusions it does not claim, any transformation applied between the source and the figure, the interval after which the observation is treated as stale, and the state the figure shows when a refresh fails.
Two consequences follow, and both are visible in the figures. A gap in a series is drawn as a gap: no interpolation, no last-value carry-forward, and never a zero standing in for an unknown. And nothing on the site is labelled live unless the series has an endpoint the reader's own browser can reach and refresh. Everything else says plainly that it is the value as of the last build.
Where two providers publish different figures for the same quantity, both are named and the difference is stated. Compiling a third number out of the two would be inventing a series, and an invented series is indistinguishable from a real one once it is on a chart.
Refresh states
In page. The series has a CORS-verified endpoint. The figure loads with the build value and replaces it with the current value on load; the timestamp updates with it.
Build only. No reachable endpoint. The figure shows the value as of the last build and says so.
Not refreshed. The latest observation is older than the series' stale window. The figure keeps the number and carries a badge rather than hiding it.
Register
Every series, its latest verified observation and how it refreshes.

How each source is classified
- Regulator
- A securities, conduct or virtual-asset authority publishing its own registers, rules, consultations and enforcement. What it publishes about its own perimeter is the fact itself, not a report of it.
- Central bank
- A central bank or the standing committee of central banks, publishing its own statistics, financial-stability work and payment-system material.
- Publication
- An independent news organisation covering this market. Its reporting is journalism, held to the reputable tier, and used here for what it reports rather than as the origin of a figure.
- API
- A data platform that compiles onchain and market figures and serves them programmatically. Named as a source wherever one of its figures appears, whether or not the endpoint could be read directly.
- Institutional newsroom
- The press channel of an international financial institution or standard-setter: its own announcements and statements, not journalism about it. Distinct from Publication for that reason.
- Issuer
- The company that issues the instrument, publishing figures about its own liabilities: tokens in circulation, the composition of the reserve behind them, the attestation over it. Primary for what it reports about itself and for nothing else. An issuer's account of its own market share is not held at that tier.
- Statistical agency
- The statistical service of a public institution, publishing indicator series compiled from national returns and staff estimates and served programmatically. Separate from API because the compiler is publicly accountable for the method and the licence is open, and separate from Institutional newsroom because an institution's statistics and its announcements are cited for different reasons.
- Governance forum
- The public forum where a protocol's own governance is proposed, argued and recorded. A parameter change discussed there is the primary record of that change.
- Primary
- The body that made the thing is publishing it about itself: a regulator's own register, a central bank's own statistics, a protocol's own governance record. There is no closer source, so nothing here is corroborated against a further one.
- Official
- An authoritative compiler rather than the originator: a multilateral institution publishing figures collected from member states, or a data platform aggregating onchain activity. Cited by name, and where two compilers disagree both figures are given.
- Reputable
- Independent journalism with an editorial record we rely on, but neither the originator of a figure nor its official compiler. A figure that reaches us only this way is marked as secondary and traced to the document it cites wherever that document can be found.
What each licence term permits
- Full text
- Reproduction in full is permitted, with no attribution condition stated. In practice we attribute anyway, as a house rule rather than a licence term.
- Full text, attributed
- Reproduction in full is permitted where the publisher is credited. Seals, logos and marks are usually excluded and licensed separately.
- Non-commercial, attributed
- Reproduction is permitted for non-commercial use with credit. Commercial republication requires permission, so material from these sources is summarised and linked here rather than reproduced.
- Excerpt and link
- A short extract may be quoted with credit; the remainder is linked. Reproducing the article is prohibited.
- Headline and link
- The headline and a link, and no body text. Where a story from one of these sources appears here, the reporting is described in our own words and the original is credited and linked.
- By agreement
- No reproduction of any part without a written agreement. Figures are cited to the publisher with a link and never mirrored.
- Split terms
- Statistical data and editorial content carry different terms: typically wide reuse of the data, including commercially, alongside personal non-commercial use of everything else. The per-source note states which half applies.
- Unstated
- The publisher states no reuse terms that we could locate. An absent policy is not a permission, so these are handled as headline-and-link until the terms are confirmed.
What we established about each source
- US Securities and Exchange Commission
- sec.gov states that information presented on the site is considered public information and may be copied or further distributed by users of the web site without the SEC's permission. The SEC seal, logos and the EDGAR mark are excluded and require a licence.
- Commodity Futures Trading Commission
- The CFTC publishes an RSS index at cftc.gov/RSS/index.htm listing general press release, enforcement and speech feeds, but no copyright or reuse policy page was located.
- European Securities and Markets Authority
- The feed carries no licence statement and no reuse or copyright page was found on esma.europa.eu. The EU institutional reuse regime may apply but was not confirmed.
- Financial Conduct Authority
- The FCA's legal terms permit printing and downloading extracts for personal use or for viewing inside an organisation, but pages saved to disk must not be distributed, sold or otherwise circulated. Statistical outputs and the charts, tables and numerical datasets in the FCA's Data section may be reproduced under the UK Open Government Licence. Attribution as (c) The Financial Conduct Authority is required on all copies.
- Monetary Authority of Singapore
- No RSS or Atom feed was found: the news listing and homepage carry no feed link and mas.gov.sg/rss returns HTTP 403. No reuse terms were located, so the newsroom must be read rather than ingested.
- Hong Kong Monetary Authority
- The HKMA publishes 19 separate RSS feeds at hkma.gov.hk/eng/other-information/rss/, including press releases, circulars, guidelines and consultations, but its copyright notice could not be retrieved.
- Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria
- No feed is published: sec.gov.ng/feed/ returns HTTP 404 and no feed link appears on the site. Rules, circulars and press notices are posted to sec.gov.ng/about/news/ and must be read directly.
- Capital Markets Authority (Kenya)
- No feed URL and no reuse terms were found. Press releases and regulatory notices appear under cma.or.ke/media/ and must be read directly.
- Financial Sector Conduct Authority
- No feed link appears on the site and no reuse terms were located. Notices are published at fsca.co.za/Latest-News/ and in the media centre at fsca.co.za/Media-Center/.
- Comissão de Valores Mobiliários
- The gov.br platform serves a working XML feed for CVM at gov.br/cvm/RSS, but the legal notice page was not reachable and no reuse permission is stated. Content is in Portuguese.
- Securities and Exchange Board of India
- SEBI documents this single feed at sebi.gov.in/rss.html and describes it as covering press releases, circulars and orders or rulings; no reuse terms accompany it.
- Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority
- No feed or reuse terms were found. Rulebook amendments and enforcement notices are posted to vara.ae/en/news/ and must be read directly.
- Abu Dhabi Global Market
- The announcements listing at adgm.com/media/announcements carries no feed link and no reuse terms. It aggregates releases from ADGM and from its regulator, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority, and must be read directly.
- Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
- The Board publishes separate feeds for all press releases, banking and consumer regulatory policy, enforcement actions, monetary policy, orders, speeches and testimony at federalreserve.gov/feeds/, but no copyright or reuse statement was located.
- European Central Bank
- The ECB's copyright statement requires that reproduced information appear accurately and that the ECB be cited as the source; modifications such as statistical adjustments must be noted, and buyers must be told the content is available free on the ECB site. Authored documents, including ECB Working Papers and Occasional Papers, need prior written authorisation.
- Bank of England
- The Bank publishes eight feeds at bankofengland.co.uk/rss, including news, publications, prudential regulation publications, speeches and statistics; no reuse terms were located.
- Bank for International Settlements
- BIS terms allow users to download, display, print, photocopy or redistribute BIS material for non-commercial purposes, and to quote a limited extract free of charge if the BIS is cited as the source and a link to the original is given. A limited extract is defined as no more than 400 words of text or two tables or graphs, and in any case not more than 10% of the publication. Statistics from the BIS Data Portal fall under separate terms.
- International Monetary Fund
- The IMF permits users to download, extract, copy, publish, distribute and sell its published statistical Data, including for commercial purposes, provided the Data appears accurately and is attributed, for example 'Source: International Monetary Fund'. Other IMF content is for personal non-commercial use, with permission required to reprint, republish or disseminate; the IMF recognises fair use of up to 2,500 words from a single source for non-commercial news reporting or research with full citation. No working feed URL was confirmed.
- Financial Stability Board
- FSB terms allow distribution or reproduction of site material except for commercial purposes, provided the information appears accurately and the FSB is cited as the source; unofficial translations are allowed if clearly labelled. Modification without permission is not allowed. Separate feeds exist for publications, consultations, speeches and statements.
- International Organization of Securities Commissions
- IOSCO terms permit reproduction of its press releases and brief excerpts of publications in other publications or products provided IOSCO is cited as the source; anything beyond that requires written permission. Translations must state that they are not official IOSCO translations. The feed resolves but its ordering places older items first, so ingestion should sort by publication date rather than feed position.
- World Bank
- Datasets are released under CC BY 4.0 unless labelled otherwise, with credit required in the form 'The World Bank: Dataset name: Data source'. Some indicators come from third parties and carry the original provider's terms instead, and the remittance indicator used here is compiled partly from balance-of-payments returns made to another institution, so that exception is live and both are named. The API at api.worldbank.org/v2 needs no key and returns JSON, but is not read from the reader's browser, so the figure is the one compiled at build.
- Central Bank of Nigeria
- No feed link and no reuse terms were found. Circulars and press notices are published to cbn.gov.ng/Documents/PressReleases.html and cbn.gov.ng/NewsArchive/News.html and must be read directly.
- Central Bank of Kenya
- The URL is the site-wide feed rather than a press-release feed, so items must be filtered against centralbank.go.ke/press/. No reuse terms were located.
- RWA.xyz
- The terms of use state that no part of the site may be copied, reproduced, distributed, republished, downloaded, displayed, posted or transmitted in any form or by any means; reproduction for academic purposes must attribute the company as the source and must not imply endorsement. API access and data downloads are sold as products, so figures should be cited to RWA.xyz with a link rather than mirrored.
- DefiLlama
- No reuse licence and no attribution requirement is stated in the API documentation, so what is permitted is unconfirmed and attribution here is a house rule rather than a condition. The open endpoints on api.llama.fi are documented as needing no authentication; the Pro tier at pro-api.llama.fi requires a key on a paid plan.
- Dune
- Redistribution terms are unclear: queries and dashboards are authored by users, and the documentation does not state who may republish their results. Access needs a key: the base path is api.dune.com/api/v1 with an X-DUNE-API-KEY header, and the endpoint could not be fetched without credentials, so no feed URL is recorded.
- Artemis
- Reuse terms were not located in the public documentation. Access needs a key: Artemis documents a REST API covering its crypto and equities datasets at classic.artemis.ai/docs/artemis-api/api-examples, but the base URL is not stated publicly and could not be fetched.
- Tether
- The website terms require express prior written permission to copy, display or use its content, limit downloading to extracts for personal use, require a licence for any commercial use, and prohibit text and data mining across the site. The figures here are the consolidated token liabilities in the quarterly reserves reports attested by BDO, together with the announcements that carry them. There is no feed and no public reserves API, and the reports are PDFs, so each figure is read from the document and cited to it.
- Circle
- The legal index carries product agreements, the USDC and EURC terms, the MiCA white papers, the privacy and cookie policies and a brand policy governing the marks rather than the figures. It carries nothing governing reuse of the material on the site itself, so what is permitted with the reserve disclosures could not be confirmed. Reserve holdings are disclosed weekly and examined monthly by an independent accounting firm; the reports are PDFs on the transparency page, and there is no feed and no reserves API.
- The Block
- The terms prohibit reproducing or exploiting content for a commercial purpose and prohibit republication on another website or app, but permit excerpts of up to 10% of an article in a blog post or publication with attribution and a link back. Subscriber feeds may not be shared or used in any application other than an RSS feed reader.
- CoinDesk
- The terms of use authorise viewing, playing, printing and downloading for personal, informational and non-commercial purposes only, and state that content may not be copied, reproduced, republished, transmitted, distributed or modified without prior written consent. CoinDesk publishes the feed for aggregators and syndication services but the terms grant no reuse right.
- Ledger Insights
- The terms state you must not republish material from the website, including republication on another website, and must not sell, rent or sub-license it or exploit it for a commercial purpose; use of content for machine learning or to train artificial intelligence models is prohibited. Redistribution of the newsletter in print and electronic form is the one stated exception.
- DL News
- DL News allows use of its feeds for personal use in a news reader or as part of a non-commercial blog, requires proper format and attribution wherever its content is posted, and reserves the right to require that distribution cease. Commercial use is prohibited without prior written permission, requested via media@dlnews.com. Section feeds exist for regulation, markets, DeFi and deals.
- Blockworks
- The terms prohibit republishing material from the website or newsletter, including republication on another website or app, except under a 'Permitted Sharing' allowance whose scope is not set out in the pages read. Requests to blockworks.co redirect to blockworks.com, so the .com host should be used.
- Global Custodian
- No separate terms page was found; the site footer carries the notice 'Copyright (c)2026 Tungsten Publishing. All Rights Reserved. No Reproduction Without Prior Authorizations', which should be read as barring reproduction without permission.
- Aave Governance Forum
- The forum is a Discourse instance and the feed at /latest.rss resolves, but no terms of use or content licence page was located. Posts are the primary record of proposals and risk-parameter changes and should be cited by permalink; the identity and mandate of any poster must be checked before a post is treated as an institutional position.
