Comparisons

Which series on this site may be set beside one another, which may not, and the test each one had to pass.

Scope5 headings · 12 series filed · 2 drawn
A heading here is a claim an editor has made: that the series filed under it measure the same quantity closely enough that a reader may set them side by side. The claim is written out under each heading below, in the terms a reader would need in order to disagree with it. Series that measure something nothing else on this site measures are filed under no heading, and appear only on their own pages.
TestOne unit, one currency · Three readings in the overlap · Four series at most
The claim is necessary and not sufficient. A comparison is drawn only where every series shares a unit and a currency, and holds at least three readings inside the period they all cover: two readings are a straight line and say nothing about shape. Where a heading holds more than four eligible series, the four with the deepest history are drawn, because past four a line is identified by the legend alone and the chart is being traced rather than read.
AlignmentUnion of publication dates · Gaps left as gaps · Nothing resampled
Two publishers rarely report on the same days. The horizontal axis of a comparison is therefore the union of the dates on which any of the series was read, and each series carries a reading only where its own publisher took one. A coarser series is joined across the dates it was never going to report on, and the observation dots mark where it was actually read. Nothing is interpolated onto a date nobody published, and no value is carried forward to fill a cell.

Stablecoin supply

Tokens issued and not redeemed, or a market estimate of the same quantity. Issuers report at par from their own books; aggregators price at market across every network a token has been minted or bridged to, so the two bases differ and the difference is largest where a token trades away from par.

4 series are filed under this heading and 2 are drawn above. Readings are counted from the observations held for each series, so the last column is the test the chart had to pass rather than a description of it.

Headings with nothing drawn yet

These groupings stand, and the series under them do not yet support a chart. The reason is stated in each case rather than the heading being left out, because whether this site compares two things is itself worth knowing.

Tokenised assets outstanding

The value of a class of tokenised real-world assets recorded as outstanding on a register, excluding stablecoins. These are register totals rather than traded prices, and registers differ in what they admit.

Three series are filed under this heading and only one holds 3 readings. A comparison needs two runs of readings, not two points.

Tokenised money fund net assets

Net assets of a tokenised money market fund at its own fiscal year end, as filed. The year ends do not coincide, so a reading from one fund and a reading from another are months apart even when they sit in the same calendar year.

Two series are filed under this heading and only one holds 3 readings. A comparison needs two runs of readings, not two points.

Statutory register counts

The number of authorisations or notifications standing on a named statutory register. A count of filings is not a count of live products, and a notified white paper is a filing rather than an approval.

Two series are filed under this heading and none holds 3 readings. A comparison needs two runs of readings, not two points.
