The profile

Non-profit organisation established in 2014 to support the Stellar network, self-funded from an endowment of lumens rather than by shareholders, holding roughly 15.5bn XLM across four publicly identified accounts as of mid-2026 and reporting its use quarterly. Stellar is the official system of record for Franklin Templeton's BENJI, the first US-registered mutual fund to use a public blockchain in that role: the fund held $650m in April 2026, the wider BENJI suite $1.98bn as at 29 April 2026, and peer-to-peer share transfers had exceeded $211m through 31 March 2026. Tokenized real-world assets on the network reached about $3bn by 25 June 2026, led by Spiko's money market funds above $1bn, BENJI, and Ondo's USDY at roughly $529m, which places the foundation's grant and infrastructure decisions upstream of regulated fund distribution.

On the record

Franklin Templeton's OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund records shares on Stellar

The summary prospectus for the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund, dated 6 April 2021, stated that ownership of the fund's shares "will also be recorded on the Stellar network's blockchain", with the transfer agent's book-entry record remaining determinative in any conflict. It made a registered US money market fund, rather than a token referencing one, the vehicle through which investors held a blockchain record of fund shares.
