The profile

Matter Labs builds ZKsync, a zero-knowledge rollup on Ethereum, and sells Prividium, a distributed ledger platform for financial institutions built on the same stack. Its own description of the design is that transactions stay confidential inside the operator's environment while their correctness is verified independently through zero-knowledge proofs anchored to an EVM-compatible settlement layer, which is the trade it asks regulated institutions to accept in place of a public ledger. The components it lists as already open source are the ZKsync OS core, the Atlas sequencer, the Airbender prover, the interoperability contracts and the block explorer and monitoring stack. It says it has completed a SOC 2 Type I examination for the Prividium platform covering security, availability, confidentiality and privacy, and Prividium is a registered trademark of Matter Labs in the United States. On 8 September 2026 it published Prividium Core, which it calls the permissioning engine, on GitHub under the Apache License 2.0, and said the Deutsche Bundesbank had deployed the platform self-hosted in its own infrastructure. The company's argument for doing so is stated by its chief executive, Alex Gluchowski: 'Financial institutions should not have to choose between adopting new infrastructure and keeping control of it.' What remains commercial is set out in the same release: the administration console, the user access panel, and the connectors into core banking systems, custody, ISO 20022 messaging and enterprise logging, along with support, certified builds and signed releases. The repository's own README is narrower than the announcement: Prividium Core is 'the permissioned RPC proxy and permissions API behind a Prividium network', which authenticates callers, applies role-based permissions and 'forwards what it allows to a ZKsync sequencer', and the same file reserves the Prividium name, requiring written approval for modified or redistributed versions.
