Uniswap builds compliance checks into the AMM with permissioned pools
A new v4 hook standard verifies wallets against issuer-managed allowlists at the protocol level, with Superstate, Securitize and Dowgo among the launch collaborators.
What happened
Uniswap Labs published a hook standard for Uniswap v4 on 23 July that allows permissioned assets to trade through the AMM with compliance enforced at the protocol level. Before a swap executes, the hook checks the wallet against an allowlist managed by the asset's issuer; permissioned assets sit in a dedicated custody contract while v4's virtual accounting system performs the exchange calculations. Launch collaborators include Superstate, Securitize, whose DS Protocol is integrated, and Dowgo, which brings ERC-3643 support aimed at the EU's DLT Pilot Regime.
Why it matters
Until now, restrictions on who may hold or trade regulated tokenized assets have mostly been enforced at the application layer, through front ends and transfer agents. Moving the check into the pool itself is a design change that could let tokenized funds and securities use public AMM liquidity without breaking their compliance obligations, and it gives issuers a standard to build against rather than bespoke arrangements.
What is not settled
Whether securities regulators in specific jurisdictions will accept allowlist enforcement at hook level as satisfying their requirements is untested. The size of the opportunity is also contested in the coverage: Uniswap's post projects an $11tn tokenized asset market by 2030, while some secondary reporting works from lower figures. No volume has yet traded through the standard.

Protocol
Published the hook standard on 23 July 2026, moving the eligibility check from the front end into the pool itself: a swap does not execute unless the wallet appears on an allowlist the asset's issuer maintains.

Superstate
Tokenization platform
A launch collaborator, whose short-duration Treasury and equity products are among the permissioned assets the standard is meant to let trade against public AMM liquidity without breaking their transfer restrictions.

Securitize
Tokenization platform
A launch collaborator whose DS Protocol is integrated with the standard, putting the transfer-agent rules it already enforces for tokenized funds behind an onchain check rather than a bilateral arrangement.
