Security auditor

PeckShield

Auditor of smart contracts whose monthly counts of losses from exploits and scams have become a reference series for onchain operational risk; February 2026's $26.5m across 15 incidents was the lowest monthly figure since March 2025, and two events made up most of it.

The profile

Blockchain security firm that audits smart contracts and publishes monthly tallies of losses from exploits and scams, which have become one of the reference series used to measure onchain operational risk. Its public archive of audit reports covers protocols including Aave V3, MakerDAO's multi-collateral Dai, Venus, Solidly and OlympusDAO, with reports dating from 2019. Its February 2026 count put losses at $26.5m across 15 incidents, a fall of 69.2% on January's $86m and the lowest monthly figure since March 2025, with two events accounting for most of the total. That shows both the use and the limit of the data: monthly totals track the severity of the largest breach far more closely than the underlying rate of failure.
