Busha
Nigerian digital-asset exchange established in 2019 with more than one million customers, holding approval-in-principle from Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission since 29 August 2024; on 9 April 2026 it opened to United Kingdom customers through Uphold's UK registration.
The profile
Nigerian digital-asset exchange established in 2019, incorporated under Nigeria's Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, serving more than one million customers and quoting more than 70 assets against the naira and the Kenyan shilling. The Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission granted it approval-in-principle as a digital asset exchange on 29 August 2024 under the Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme, alongside Quidax, the first provisional exchange licences issued in the country, covering firms that were trading before the SEC's virtual asset rules of May 2022. On 9 April 2026 it opened to United Kingdom customers by routing its application through Uphold's existing UK registration and compliance infrastructure rather than seeking permissions of its own, an arrangement that shows how an African venue reaches hard-currency corridors without holding a local licence.
