The profile

NASD runs the market for securities of Nigerian public companies that are not listed on an exchange, a segment that in most markets trades bilaterally and without published prices. It is a self-regulatory organisation in its own right, registered with and regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria, and it belongs to the Association of Securities Exchanges of Africa, the Association of Securities Exchanges of Nigeria and the Lagos Chamber of Commerce. Admitted securities trade through licensed participating institutions, and the exchange also quotes commercial paper. In late July 2026 it introduced the NASD Digital Securities Platform, built on infrastructure from Blockstation Inc with TK Tech Africa, intended to carry tokenized securities from issuance through trading, clearing and settlement, with a first public offering slated for early September. Its own page for the platform still describes it as coming soon. An OTC market is where a frontier exchange can try something without touching the main board, which is part of why the tokenization step arrived here rather than at the Nigerian Exchange.
