The profile

LSEG describes itself in four divisions: Data and Analytics, FTSE Russell, Risk Intelligence, and Markets, the last of which contains the London Stock Exchange itself along with foreign exchange and post-trade services. It dates the exchange to 1698 and describes more than three centuries of continuous operation. The group is therefore both a listing venue and, through FTSE Russell and its data business, a supplier of the benchmarks and reference data that other venues price against, which is unusual among exchanges and matters to how a tokenized version of its market would be constructed. On 1 September 2026 it said it was assessing a UK tokenized equity structure intended to preserve shareholder rights and governance standards, and announced a partnership with Payward, Kraken's parent, to explore tokenized public equity markets; it said it intends to list xStocks on LSE 24, its planned round-the-clock venue, in 2027.
